Cable and wire

Clear, rub-resistant marks on electrical cable and wire, printed at extrusion line speed from product name to running length.

Every metre of cable has to say what it is

Cable and wire leave the extrusion line fast and in unbroken lengths. Every metre has to carry its identity: the maker, the core size and voltage, the standard it meets and often a running length mark that tells the installer and the inspector exactly what they are holding.

The marks are applied to moving insulation in a hot, dusty hall and then coiled, reeled and stored, so they must dry in an instant, resist rubbing and stay readable. Continuous inkjet is the standard answer, with laser marking as an ink-free alternative for fine or permanent marks.

What we mark

  • Building and wiring cable
  • Flexible cord and extension cable
  • Armoured and power cable
  • Coaxial and data cable
  • Reels and drums
  • Cartons of coiled cable

Advantages for cable and wire makers

Features that matter on a fast, continuous extrusion line.

01

Keeps up with extrusion

The print head follows the cable at line speed and lays down a steady, even line of characters.

02

Insulation-ready inks

Quick-drying inks made for PVC, rubber and polyethylene, so marks resist rubbing.

03

Running length marks

Sequential length marks help you cut to length and check output against the metres drawn.

04

Slim print head

A small head fits the narrow gap between the die, the cooling trough and the capstan.

05

Heat and dust tolerance

IP65 and IP54 models with clean-air protection cope with warm, dusty extrusion halls.

06

Ink or laser

Use ink for flexibility, or laser for a permanent, ink-free mark on suitable sheathing.

Built for Kenyan production lines

Kenyan cable makers supply building sites, utilities and retailers, and the marking has to show what the cable is and the standard it claims.

  • Marks laid out to show the information the standard you manufacture to requires.
  • Stable printing when line speed changes between sizes.
  • Inks and printers that cope with heat and dust near extrusion lines.
  • Length marks that follow the cable through the line.
  • Inks, spares and fault response from a local team.
  • Operator training so message changes between cable types are quick.

Common questions

Can the printer print running length marks?

Yes. Length marks can be printed so they follow the cable as it is drawn, and we set this up to match your line and your counter.

Will the ink rub off the insulation?

Inks made for PVC, rubber and polyethylene dry quickly and resist rubbing. We confirm the ink against your insulation before recommending a system.

Can one printer handle many cable types?

Yes. Store a message for each cable type and size and select it at changeover.

Is laser an option for cable?

Laser can give a permanent mark on suitable sheathing materials. We assess your material before recommending it.
